I’ve been thinking a lot about Balance recently. In the past I wrote a post about Slowing Down. This was because I went from 0 to 60. I jumped into travel so quickly that I was checking off countries and cities like I was binge eating ice cream.
As I wrote before – I decided to slow down in Albania. But that’s where I found myself going in the opposite direction. Instead of slowing down. I halted. Sure, I explored Tirana quite a bit. (And honestly probably know it better than the Northern Virginia area I lived in for 5 years). But that wasn’t what I meant when I said I needed to slow down.
So now I find myself needing to find a good balance. I don’t know how long that’ll take. Is it a couple weeks in a place? Is it a couple days in each city but a month or more in one country? Is it 3 months in one place, but finding more of a community outside of the hostel I was in?
I don’t know. I think it’s going to take time to figure out what exactly balance while traveling means to me. And as I look for work, and begin working, while travel that’ll change even more.
For now – I’m excited to get moving again. I was halted for too long and it’s good to be back on the road. And while I’ll only be in Greece for a day – I’m going to be in Thailand for longer and I’ll work on getting that balance figured out. So stay tuned to the “Holly has no idea what she’s doing” show.
